A live event where guests were invited to submit their own pearls of wisdom via the brand new Samsung Galaxy Note.

Generally through life we all get given that 'best piece of advice ever'. That little nugget of wisdom passed to us from friends or family no matter how weird it was. I was part of a team to help bring those pieces of advice to life.

At a live event guests were invited to submit their own pearls of wisdom via the brand new Samsung Galaxy Note, they could also submit during the lead up to the event using a website the team built.

In collaboration with Creative Social the team put award-winning illustrator Andrew Rae on stage for the night and asked him to draw his interpretation of the submissions on the Samsung Galaxy Note. Guests at the event could watch the drawings come to life stroke-for-stroke through a huge on-stage projection, whilst two 55" Samsung TVs showed upcoming submissions and finished illustrations.

Driven by a custom submission form on the Galaxy note within the crowd, Each submission was moderated live then published for Andrew to draw.

A HTML5 Canvas element was used to create a drawing package for Andrew which mirrored each stroke on the big screen, then when he had finished it was sent to the final screen for viewing and the printer picked up the design.

Getting all three screens and a Galaxy Note to talk to each other wirelessly at the one-off live event was tricky but achieved using Socket.io which is a feature rich wrapper for Websockets.

So by either using the website or via the devices at the event, people were able to submit the best piece of advice they had ever received. The bits of advice were ordered, then entered into the existing list for Andrew to interpret.

Attendees could even take away illustrated postcard printouts of their individual submissions as a souvenir.

To celebrate the event a special limited edition book was published containing art and submissions from numerous artists and guests.
